7 Best Whitening Toothpaste
1. Crest 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste
In just three days, this toothpaste can remove up to 95% of surface stains. That is pretty impressive, and that’s precisely what makes it Crest’s most advanced formula. The toothpaste also prevents future stains with its 3X Stain Fighting Power. Though powerful, it’s safe even for those with sensitive teeth and is safe on enamel. Plus, it contains fluoride to fight cavities.
2. Arm & Hammer Advance White Extreme Whitening Toothpaste
This toothpaste whitens with peroxide and baking soda for double the effectiveness, lifting stains and bringing a brighter smile. It contains fluoride to prevent cavities, removes plaque in tough-to-reach spots, controls tartar, neutralizes harmful acids that can erode and weaken enamel, delivers a deep clean by penetrating between teeth to reach the gum line, and has a low abrasion formula that won’t hurt enamel. The Stain Defense technology prevents new stains from forming, too, all in a clean mint flavor. Plus, with the low price, you can stock up without your wallet noticing.
3. Tom’s of Maine Antiplaque Natural Whitening Toothpaste
There’s no need to worry about icky ingredients with Tom’s of Maine. Packed with natural ingredients, this multitasker whitens teeth, prevents plaque and tartar build-up, and freshens breath, all without artificial dyes, sweeteners, flavors, or preservatives. It contains zinc citrate, a naturally occurring mineral sourced from zinc, and xylitol, which organically comes from birch trees or corn. The toothpaste is fluoride-free and has a refreshing natural peppermint flavor. Plus, the brand doesn’t test on animals, so it’s cruelty-free and vegan.
4. Pearl Drops Strong Polished White Toothpaste
Claiming to leave the teeth up to four shades whiter in three weeks, this toothpaste is formulated to be “low abrasion”. The brand says it strengthens the enamel and prevents cavities too. Coming top in our lab test, it didn’t cause any increased teeth sensitivity with our testers. Leaving the mouth feeling clean and fresh after rinsing, some testers compared it to a trip to their hygienist.
5. iWhite Whitening Toothpaste
This formula says it will help improve both surface and deeper staining. The brand also says the toothpaste strengthens and remineralises the teeth. Voted best for the whitening effect with our testers, 82% of them agreed they would continue to use it. The majority of testers saw that their teeth became whiter in two-to-four weeks. They also enjoyed that the toothpaste lathered well, leaving breath smelling fresh.
6. Colgate Max White Expert Complete Whitening Toothpaste
Colgate’s Max White Expert claims to instantly whiten teeth while reversing yellowing caused by food and drink and preventing further staining. The majority of our testers were satisfied with the whitening effects, which the said were gradual. They also agreed that it prevented staining from strong coloured food or drink. It has a minty taste but a few testers found there was a slight medicinal note.
7. Dr Ginger’s Coconut Oil Toothpaste With White Charcoal
Formulated with coconut oil and “white charcoal”, the brand claims it provides extra whitening without the “black stuff”. Coming second in our lab test, our testers found the whitening effect to be gradual. They did however rate it best for helping to prevent stains from food and drink. It was not harsh on the teeth and didn’t leave any residue in the mouth. Testers also enjoyed the pleasant texture and agreed it didn’t leave a mess in the sink.
